Now, I ask you, how many words rhyme with “Seven”? Not “Sev’n” but “Se-ven”! Well, there’s “hea-ven”, but that’s been done, done, done. What else? “e-lev-en” ; a challenge, that one. There once was a gamblers epithet “seven come eleven” but who even remembers that?
Well, I settled for “Kevin”, although the only Kevin I knew done me wrong! In any case, you’ll find it very pleasant to dance with Kevin if you take 3 steps to the measure.
Check out a preview of the score below and a recording of the Tony Award winning singer Lindsay Mendez singing "Sing with Me, Kevin!"
The Methode Jaques Dalcroze, is based on the premise that your body is your instrument presents a perfect synthesis of music and dance. Moving through space, creating rhythm with balls, clapping and finding the pleasure that is music through movement is what gives joy to humans. Musicians and Dancers alike enjoy the creativity that the Methode Dalcroze unleashes. Far from a didactic teaching method, Dalcroze is an active form. The premise of Dalcroze is that your body is your primary instrument. Music is part of the nature of being human. The heart beat and the breath are the fundamentals of rhythm.
